Malcolm Johnson, director general of ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector) visited CATR. Yang Zemin, director of CATR, Jiang Lintao, chief engineer of CATR, Li Jinxing, deputy secretary-general of China Communication Standardization Association (CCSA), relevant leaders of Datang Mobile Group, Datang Mobile Communications System Standard Division and International Cooperation Department of CATR were invited to attend this interview.

Yang said that he warmly welcome Malcolm Johnson visited CATR and then he introduced China’s telecom market environment, CATR’s changing models, as well as ITU as an intergovernmental organization faced challenges and the direction of development of ITU in the future. Finally, Yang introduced CATR's organizational structure and the core business, the status quo of ITU activities and international cooperation.

Li Jinxing, Deputy Secretary-General of CCSA introduced CCSA’s organizational structure and characteristics, members and observers, activities and international cooperation. Zhao Jian, director of Datang Mobile introduced Datang TD-SCDMA technology and the evolution of standards as well as the entire process of important events and participate in the ITU study group activities.

Malcolm Johnson fully affirmed China’s contribution in the ITU standardization and hope that China would be able to participate in more involved ITU work in future and to strengthen cooperation between China and ITU. Malcolm Johnson also briefed introduced the ITU reforms, the World Standard Conference, with other international organizations cooperation and so on.
