In order to promote development of research and application technology on lifeline earthquake engineering, China, Japan and the U.S. jointly held ¡°Fifth China-Japan-US Trilateral Symposium on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering¡±. This symposium mainly discussed every country about cities lifeline engineering management and the situation of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, to help absorb and consult urban lifeline engineering construction experience and lesson in the future. Approved by the department of MII, Zhou Jinrong, director and Huang Weixue deputy director of CTTL Lab of CATR participated in the symposium in Hainan.

The symposium focus on:

(1) the geological problems of lifeline (including liquefaction, the bottom slip, etc.);

(2) failure mechanism of lifeline and dynamic analysis, disaster simulation;

(3) dynamic characteristics analysis of underground pipeline near-field earthquake ;

(4) GIS and GPS applications in prevention disaster of lifeline;

(5) performance monitoring and detection of lifeline network;

(6) and the associated lifeline network system with the past-disaster economy continuous operation and so on.
