NTT delegation visited CATR and made a technology exchange. Yang Zemin, director of CATR, relevant experts of Communications Standard Research Institute of CATR, relevant personal of Project management and Marketing Department and International Cooperation Department attended this exchange activity. NTT delegation has two intentions: introduced NTT’s situation of NGN and IPTV.

Deputy proprieter of NTT introduced the development goals and business innovation of NGN; current trial and commercial pilot in 2008; medium-term and long-term development objectives of user; after commercial pilot would be likely to provide the main services.

Around this topic, CATR and NTT discussed the following issues: First, balance issues after commercial pilot between investment and disinvestment; Second, the business relationship and the distribution of profits between telecom operators and broadcasting companies; Third, some services might be become commercial services; Fourth, broadband coverage issues in rural; Fifth, the competition of fixed and broadband market; Sixth, to provide high-quality social services; Seventh, to provide more better and more convenient service for user.

Director of NTT Network Solutions Laboratory introduced IPTV in Japan, including: the promotion of international standards, standardization of IPTV in Japan, the DTT transmission of IPTV and IPTV in the direction of the business, NTT's IPTV services integration and consolidation.

The two sides discussed the integration of broadcasting and telecommunications and the distribution of profits; IPTV commercial model; some issues of TV terminals standardization; relations of IPTV services and the value and IPTV Forum should play a role.
